Amphetamines
Amphetamines are available as mixed amphetamine salts (Adderall and generic), dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine and generics), and lys-dextroamphetamine (Vyvanse). They are non-catecholamine sympathomimetic amines with CNS stimulant activity.
Vyvanse is dextroamphetamine bonded to the amino acid lysine. The lysine renders the dextroamphetamine inert until the bond is broken by intestinal enzymes.
Mixed amphetamine salts consist of a mixture of four amphetamine salts:
Dextroamphetamine saccharate
Dextroamphetamine sulfate
Amphetamine sulfate
Dextro and levo amphetamine aspartate
